Dachshund: The Brave, Charming Little Dog with Personality

Goodbye Brutis

    My friend had to put his dog to sleep today,
        he was a Dachshund only five years old;
                   loyal, brave, clever, pretty eyes,
                   feisty, beloved, with floppy ears.
    Brutis had a "big" dog personality all the time,
        loved most people, children, and other dogs;
    Oh, Brutis had so much charisma, so much charm,
        I can see him walking with that wee hop in his step.
               But, Dachshunds have delicate backs,
         and Brutis suddenly became paralyzed.
                    No surgery possible,
                    no other option ~
    So, he said goodbye and I love you Brutis today,
         you were a little warrior- now, go get your wings !

Ahh!! I can feel the emotion in this one. Yes, each pet that we have had has a place in my heart. Thank you for sharing this one with us. If for a contest, it reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Sara K

Ink, thank you for your compassion. I have had to put cat pets to sleep during my life for various reasons, when all hope was gone. It is so hard and emotional. It is a dagger to the heart. Thank you for the compliment and good luck with your new kitten ~

Your "Goodbye Pickles" is a wonderful yet sad write/story/quote. Great Picture... Yes, these people in a fur coat are in our heart forevermore. They wait on the rainbow bridge for us. Have a blessed day writing away...........
