Goodbye

There it was -
  that moment felt
when you slipped passed me
unseen, unheard, sliding thru the shadows.
Dark the day, darker my heart
having whispered goodbye to the last beat.
Nothing now,
all fallen in the dim light of three o'clock,
when breath and pulse
  and two lives shared
ceased.
