Goodbye

Our memories fail, they never last
For time was made to erase the past
Though echoes try to preserve your voice
It starts to fade, it has no choice

While tomorrow chases another day
More of you will slip away
If that's the way it's meant to be
I pray this pain will set me free

Sorrow comes but will not leave
For too much love can make you grieve
A shadow sits in your old chair
I think of you but you're not there

Sometimes the wind will say your name
Each day my heart will do the same
We'll meet again, this truth I know
But I wasn't ready to let you go

I know that God doesn't make mistakes
He heals my heart each time it breaks
But it really doesn't matter how hard we try
There's no easy way to say goodbye
