Goodbye

What were you thinking?
Was all that really necessary for you to fit in?
Was that your first time
Or had you cheated death again and again?

I loved what I saw and knew of you
So innocent, insecure, so sweet
I felt I should protect you
From your own naivete

I never did get to tell you
I just never felt that brave
Now I so much wish I had
Maybe your life could have been saved

I hope now you know
Someone cared for you, the you I knew
Somebody wanted to protect you
I just couldn't speak the truth

Rest in peace dear mislead innocent
I hope you no longer have to fight the demons
No more conquering of fears
Living in the land of dreams
