Goodbye

I stand on the hill and look at the sky, Down the beaten path and the road I have come; I peer upwards at the twilight sky and sigh At last, the race, I have won. Before me on the ground is the life I have lived My family my friends all the things I have done, At last on this hill I have arrived Below I can see waving to me, my beloved grandson. Oh this wonderful life I have lived, laughed and loved I know it is time now to say goodbye; Goodbye to my darling beloved Goodbye to my favourite animal, the Mediterranean fruit fly. Goodbye to hot baths, cool drinks and stormy nights. Goodbye to good books, to treats and wind in the leaves. Goodbye to snow, Christmas and to the Festival of Lights. Goodbye to hot chocolate, laughter, joy and long flannel sleeves. Goodbye to mountain landscapes, the ocean and so much more, I must go now, to the future, in the light, forevermore. Goodbye to the world I have lived, laughed and loved.
