Good Ole Days

My Grandma once told me about the Good Ole Days. How they had to do things - about the many ways. Having to wake up at the crack of dawn. Just thinking about it - makes me want to yawn. Breakfast for the family, then cleaning happens next. In those days - they'd be no time to text. Feeding the chickens, gathering eggs - time to plow the field. But we can't relax yet - though my body wants to yield. Slopping the pigs, milking cows, and tending the horses too. Someone please tell me - when is this day going to be through? Going to the market could really be quite the chore. And still I'm told there's oh - so much more. Traveling to the nearest creek to get the laundry done. When do we get to enjoy the warmth and sheer beauty of the afternoon sun? Finally - we get to sit down to dinner with our family. Grateful of our accomplishments and each other's company. Among the many blessings I count is being in the modern age. From their many lessons and sacrifices we can take a page. Their wisdom and knowledge to us they did bestow. Do not take for granted all that we now know!
