Good Guys
Opening her door
Paying for the meal…
And the movie
Helping her in and out of her chair
Being a gentlemen
The qualities women used to want in a man
What happened?
Is it now polite to be impolite?
Suddenly,
The cars, clothes, and jewelry make the man
Not the soul
I don’t like Girbaud Jeans
You can say my ride’s a ‘hupty’
I wear shirts and ties
But if you look into my eyes
Sincerity lies
Don’t conform,
Stand alone,
A gentleman, lost in time
Dumbfounded with disbelief
A poet, rapper, songwriter, singer, composer, and Christian
Not astonishingly handsome
Decent looking
A good guy, a rare breed
Singled out by society
Rejected by love
Often oppressed
Kind-hearted and compassionate
Yet-
I exist only in shadows
But a mere mirage
Inexplicable,
Why good guys finish last…
