Gone Missing

A captain american t-shirt clung to her chest. She held no plans for her future, only wanted to move out west. She was confident that once she landed there, she could figure out the rest. Some times melancholy and given to the blues, went by the name of Holly, both arms covered in tattoos. Her hair was thick and wirey with shades of purple hues, last seen on a Kansas highway, which left no other clues. Her family dialed the cell phone which went to voice mail, by the time the police were called, it was a very cold trail. The detective couldn't have been any kinder but reminded Holly's dad that she's no longer a minor. A canine unit was dispatched but the dogs couldn't find her. Holly's story, a familiar heart break, a parent's worse fears. They never gave up looking for her, persevered for many years. Holly had a life to live, a need to express herself but became another woman missing, a condensed file on the shelf.
