Gone

words can feel
then find
somewhere in
the mind
a bang and bolt
a jolt then a
squeeze
with an ease like a gentle breeze
and then still
even so
with a will to know
an insatiable flow
when the thaw
lets it go
to wherever the past
is gone

:) there is one great scripture in Philippians that tells us that whatever is in the past we must forgot and that we must look forward with Christ is our live.. :) this a short verse but the words are particularly so thoughtful.. :) i especially like the line with the word thaw.. I have similar poem with this title: GONE.. :) Welcome to PS.. I have been awhile here, I hope as you go along you will have fun like me.. :) Happy NEw Year! Blessings, olive eloisa.. :)

Hello James, Your poem inspired me to 'login'. Haven't done so for a good while; life gets in the way sometimes! Love your way with words in, Gone and how the rhythm changes towards the end. The final word is a bit like a brake though, as if it doesn't want to let go, so maybe if you could try... "to wherever the past is released", and let it float away. I will linger longer and read some more, Thanks for the hook. James, Wordancer

Excellent. Perhaps remove "the"? Just puts a slight stop in the rhythm for me, and rhythm is the delight instinct within your words.
