Golden Dawn

The sun brings forth a golden dawn
No warmth no joy no lark to rise
It is but an empty promise of times past
Of life lived but now bereft of joy
Of dreams scattered across the sky lost in azure haze
Of friendships cherished only to wither and fade

The sun brings forth a golden dawn
The night flees before its relentless march
No sound rises to greet its triumph
No colours of autumn light the land
The soul lies torn and bleeding on the dusty ground
All is still, all is lost, hope has died and lies as a corpse

I am glad also that you have visited my first poem on soup. I was in a black hole whenI write it and did not know where to turn, it was the best decission of my life to join this site. I have already found good friends and thanks to Jan taking me under her wing and writing three poems with me, I am happier now than I have been in years. Love Shane xxx

An amazing write, Shane. The imagery paints a bleak landscape, while sorrow and confusion cry out. It is difficult to find just one single line that touches me most, the entire piece is perfection! Wishing you the best! Mikki

This is enchantingly and beautifully dark and I love it. Its not easy to say "great job" on pieces that have as much emotional conflict as this, because the poet has obviously felt the pain, but Shane these are powerful lines!

Thank you for your words. I am sorry that it has made you sad, i just don't have your talent all i seem to be able to do well is write dark pieces. I have been reading your work, it is brilliant. focus on that and it will help you get through your grief. If there is anything i can do just ask. Hugs Shane xxx
