Golden
Golden
By: Shaneika Cooper
Like Jill Scott said, she’s living her life like it’s golden
And so am I
Cause it feels like I’ve been chosen by the Lord above
To be blessed with the feeling of true love
Every day is like story from some fairy tale
Every breath I breathe is blessed with the feeling that I will prevail
When I walk into a room my head is held high
And I catch the eye of those who choose to look
Because my life is golden, and it can’t be shook
I was given a family that would do anything for me
Our love is like the bricks that hold up the buildings in the cities
A mother and father who gave me the beauty you see
And an attitude so fierce that’ll have you shivering
I got my height from them and that makes me so tall
But I don’t mind, cause I’ll walk into the room and feel prouder than them all
My hair may not be wavy and soft like those beauty queens
But I still attract some stares, and I speak my mind and do my thing
My knowledge will get me accepted to college
Where I can make something of myself
Yeah, life is golden, because I’m happy and well
