Going Home
Tightly braided
With tears of doubt
Fearing tomorrow
If Pete’s not about
To comfort her sorrows
Or tousle the hair
Of the children she bore him
Days past tense, days fair
Or will she stand
At the dock
Waving fondly goodbye
Knowing he’ll see her
Knowing she’ll cry
Then someday when children
Have families, are grown
She’ll meet Pete at the dock
And together go home
