God's Wrath - a Neglected Subject
The modern man ceases to accept God exists
for he constantly runs away from this thought
not only that God is but we must answer Him
for this God is angry and is really red hot
We all know we're not perfect but not too bad
but does the Bible teach this? certainly not
Jesus spoke more on hell than on heaven
if this is true then why is it not more taught?
The subject of God's wrath is somewhat rejected
today's preachers don't like to offend
because the hearer doesn't welcome this
so no one tells it then the soul can't mend
In the modern church, there's little seriousness
so then no godly repentance to bear fruit
in years of old where sin convicted men shed tears
knowing their real depravity sin was at its root
The modern preacher seeks to comfort people
but God says yes only after the heartfelt cry
what must I do to be saved? when truly broke
they feel divine wrath so seek peace before they die
Scripture presents God in His holy character
His wrath and His love which is equally joined
this love is never valued till His wrath's understood
by the sinner deserving wrath knows I'm no good
(A look at today's superficial church as preachers seek not to offend his listeners but by neglecting the subject of God's wrath on sin instead end up dishonouring God)
