God's Great Gospel
All glory belongs to God alone
for it's His gospel that meets man's need
His mercy and His anger meet head-on
for lost sinners are brought to mercy feed
God's holiness leaves one mystified
His godliness is beyond man's mind
within one's soul, there's a real move
seeking to move a great salvation to find
In Christ, our Lord the spirits vindication
high above holy angels sang joyful praise
the world lost in sin and nature's night
then heard Jesus died but now He was raised
This is indeed such glorious news
one that blows the human mind so free
Christ paid sins price to rescue man from self
this He did die for sin on Calvary's tree
Let your heart be filled with praise
Christ's death means that He is mine
so I sing in unison with heaven's choir
to adore Jesus my king my saviour's love sign
(Some thoughts on one of my favourite hymns of all time.)
Great is the Gospel of our Glorious God
Great is the gospel of our glorious God,
Where mercy met the anger of God’s rod;
A penalty was paid and pardon bought,
And sinners lost, at last to Him were brought:
O let the praises of my heart be Thine,
For Christ has died that I may call Him mine,
That I may sing with those who dwell above,
Adoring, praising Jesus, King of Love.
Great is the mystery of godliness,
Great is the work of God’s own holiness,
It moves my soul and causes me to long
For greater joys than to the earth belong:
The Spirit vindicated Christ our Lord,
And angels sang with joy and sweet accord;
The nations heard, a dark world flamed with light –
When Jesus rose in glory and in might:
