Author's Notes: This Petrarchan Sonnet entitled: "God's Christmas Angel" is a special Christmas sonnet that I wrote and set in Iambic Pentameter. This sonnet is a dedication itself to the "Spirit of Christmas" and its power of love, hope, and compassion -- so needed to help those lost in despair, hopelessness, and fear. In a similar vein, as I noted in an earlier Petrarchan sonnet, "The Tides of Passion," that I wrote and posted on July 28th of this year: "Knowing love shall transcend our mortal birth!" I noted then too, that this is a force even to be reckoned with in the ethereal world, which harkens back to the notion that "God is Love" and "God is the Universe." In this newest sonnet, "God's Christmas Angel" is my metaphorical view of a special Guardian Angel (which, by the way, I envisioned as a "Her" and not a "He") so anointed by God with the mission and purpose of bringing those lost and forlorn of all hope back into God's Light and setting them once again on a path of hope, love, redemption, and divine rebirth. In the end, these heavenly attributes are all-powerful, and are all necessary in replenishing "Mankind's Love," which is that constant in helping all of us to transcend our mortal existence here on Earth and in bringing all of us closer to God Himself. Merry Christmas to All!! (Gary Bateman - December 2, 2015) (Petrarchan Sonnet)

God’s Christmas Angel God’s Christmas Angel is full of His love; A Guardian to those lost to His light. Restore them to God’s path of divine right, This Angel’s charge be with His grace above! This Angel’s mission is replete with love, And one prized in God’s holy presence bright; One passion perfect in His holy light; And one blessed by heavenly Saints above! This Angel cloaks those lost in love replete; With true passion and holy spirit now, To fulfill God’s wish—His eternal vow! Love’s this Guardian’s power complete; Her spirit to redeem those lost on Earth, Bringing them God’s love and divine rebirth! Hello Dear Leonora!! Thanks so much for your read and super comments here. I do write sonnets sometimes in a varied meter configuration, but most usually I write them in the traditional Iambic Pentameter. I guess you can call me a "Traditionalist." You might want to check out too my other three most recent Christmas poem posts too -- if you have time. Continued best wishes and Merry Christmas!! Cheers and Best, Gary (XOXOXO!)

Hello Alexis!! Thank you so much here for your gracious and kind comments and the "7." "God" and "His Love" are both such powerful and meaning themes as they are very much part of Mankind's existence. (Recommend you take a read too of my recent Rhymed Couplet, entitled: "An Echo Through Time." You might find this particular write of much interest from a pure poetry perspective!!) I'm not a formal teacher now, but I did teach for a few years long ago as "military intelligence" instructor in the U.S. Army and did teach part-time as an adjunct instructor for the University of Maryland. (I've done a lot of formal academic stuff too over the years.) Cheers and Best Wishes Always, Gary
