Gods
What started it off
To believe in them
Spirits or Religion
Their is no God in men
Iconic figures
From past and present years
Ruling tribes
With tears and fears
Showing allegiance
To the Sky and Earth
As we all know
The planet of their birth
Nominated leaders
By ancient committee's
Who grew to rule
Ancient towns and cities
Power, Suppression
As their leaders are feared
To serve whose Gods
Why citizens are speared
Aztec, Inca and Egyptian Priests
Look above
Who do they greet
A cloudy sky
A starry night
If they opened their eyes
No Gods in sight
Civilisation's past and present too
Just needing something to look up too
Clever leaders, imaged thoughts
Create a God
Citizens bought
Man made icons
And planet earth's
Were worshipped divinely
For what its worth
Lava, statues, clouds and corn
From their countries
Born and sworn
If there is a God
Around us every day
Its Mother Nature
In every way.
