Notes About The Poem

A realistic prayer....At least I think....How about you?

God You Work

God You Work
(Just praying for a little help)

God you work in mysterious ways
Your wonders to perform
Pray you'll help us this election year
It's way beyond the norm

God you know we need some help
 Not asking just for me
Lots of lives are on the line
In this homeland of the free.

We haven't paid attention
As the greedy people led
Putting money in their pockets
While the hungry were not fed

We didn't do the things should
To help our fellow man
Please help us through these awful times
'Cause we don't do all we can

Now I've voiced the reason
That we're in the place we are
Asking for your Godly help
For humans that is par

We don't want to take the trouble
To do the things we should
God helps those who help themselves
You would be helping if we would

God forget I bothered you
Until we do our parts
Help us believe in you again
And to have you in our hearts
