Notes About The Poem

We will meet again when God sees fit

God the Father

God the Father

I pray to God the Father
God the Son and Holy Ghost
Now that my wife's in Heaven
I pray you've given her the Host

Here on Earth she would not take it
For she thought it was a sin
She was a Catholic, I a Baptist,
I guess that's where I should begin

Married in a Baptist Church
Both of us divorced before
Somehow that made it sinful
To join in wedded bliss once more

We both believed in Jesus Christ
That He was you, sent down to Earth
To save us from our mortal sins
And in death, to give us birth .

He paved her way to Heaven
I have no doubt that she is there
And when I die, I'll follow her
That belief is what we shared

The religion's Christianity
The different sects are what we choose
We both believed in Jesus Christ
When we said our last “I do's”

That was over fifty years ago
And I would do it all again
Thank you God for taking her
To relieve her of her pain

I still believe that Jesus Christ
Died on the cross for me
Please guide me as the Holy Ghost
Until in Glory I will be

Then again, I'll hold her in my arms
By your grace, she's still my wife,
Thank you God for sharing her
She was the true love of my life
---AMEN---
