God Speak and Song
God Speak and Song
You speak to me
In this templed place
Where lovely doves murmur from rafters
And little squirrels race.
Gratitude fills the heart with awe,
Leaves twinkle as diamonds
In the cool morning sun.
Whispering in a soprano breeze,
To songs of years gone by
When saplings reached their arms to the sky
Strong enough for roosting sparrows,
Shading small children from sun’s hot arrows.
Now new winged children make
Egg filled nests primordial in your boughs
Where mothers warble their love
Until they must teach their grownup tasks,
Freeing their babes to a hostile world
Tweeting and chirping Your hymns ,
Of songs through them,
Their prayers for Your loving safety.
