God Made Him That Way

"Here comes trouble" some people said,
just because his hair was red..
He saw he was different with his bright,
red mane but knew on the inside he was
likely the same..
Most days he just stood there and smiled
as they chanted "you redheaded step child".
At times he was wounded by their troubling taunts,
their teasing echoed in his head, like ghosts, they'd haunt..
Labeled a "fire cracker", he rarely exploded. He took it
all in and eventually imploded.
This poor little boy longed for some one to say,
"He has red hair cause God made him that way."

The sadness of bullying so poignantly expressed Nancy. I do believe each of us is uniquely crafted by God. And, like commenting on poetry, we, as God's hands, have a ministry to find the uniqueness of each person and raise that up by our words. Wonderfully done "cause God made (you) that way." Blessings to you and all redheads!

thank you Sam for not only reading my page but for such kind words. I totally agree that we are all uniquely crafted by God for our individual spiritual journey. We should all embrace our commonality.

I always tell my grandson that he has the most beautiful hair. He got red from both sides of his family (mother and father). He is even tempered and a loving person so red-headed doesn't mean hot-headed or any other temperament that is negative. It takes receiving red-haired gene from both sides of the family to have a red-headed child. I enjoyed reading this one today and it needed to be said. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Hi Sara, It seems that people can't even understand a recessive gene. As a fellow red head, more of a strawberry blonde these days, I can emphasize with your grand son. I wish people would shed these old stereotypes and open up their minds to be more accepting of humanities differences. Probably not in this life unfortunately.
