God Is Love

These words ring often through my mind. They bring me hope when hurt confines. God fills my heart with hope sublime. Uplifts my soul and heals all time. Childhood woes met adulthood sorrows. Strength grew firm with God’s love borrowed. Forever seemed so distant, then. When life was wrought with so much sin. Days have dawned as life raced on. Quicker than a twinkle, it passes…gone. What good I ask did my live spawn? That’s when I look to God beyond. Yes, God is love, as each man can be. Let’s defeat man’s sinful destiny. Harrow out war’s hateful mystery. Love one another as God taught in history. God is love; He vanquishes fear. He wants each of us, His children, near. That we can’t see him it is very clear. But we can know God is love, my dear. © July 25, 2011 Dane Smith-Johnsen Written for Poetry Soup Member Contest: My Favorite Quote Sponsored by: Walayee Whitlock
