God Is Amazing
Prompt: I taste your truth
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s a story no one wants
a story of darkness, shadows, night
when dreams were lost
hearts broke and sought solace
amid the desperation, the despair
raindrops falling…
It’s a grief no heart can conquer
a grief so wretched, desolate and dark
feelings so bare, naked to the bone
inferiority, doubting, misery in a heart
born to believe, yet withering and wan
filled with the loss, so very wrong
raindrops falling…
It’s a mystery, the why
why me? keeps repeating
inside the spirit who is quietly grieving
a still soft voice, in the past
tells you you’re getting what you deserve
but, oh, sweet Jesus…
how can this be?
Raindrops keep falling
and the moments sing, bittersweet
across the mountains, a fog
of desperation and grief
angry some days, while others
only tears, reflecting the feelings
burning with throbbing cries,
tears that remember
how awful this word, why
just why, how can this be
when the surgeon said cancer
the world changed and I see
beyond the tears, just raindrops
reminding me to breathe
raindrops echoing
on the silence in my soul
telling me to listen
to the story of pure gold
even though I’m afraid
and the mark of loss is in my soul
I know the meaning of prayer
when it’s prayed to the only One
who knows…
Raindrops keep falling
echoing through each prayer
as I hear the pastor
repeating what I’ve said
when I asked the Father
to heal from this disease
to take away the cancer
that’s eating away
at my husband’s brain…
God, please take away
this cancer who I have to say
is making me see
beyond my grief, to this story
where hearts need to just believe
living inside of me
there is faith that must remember
whatever comes, there is a hope
hope that assures…
even when the raindrops come
and my mind quakes
there is a promise, assurance,
sweet assurance….
God is with us, and He can heal
despite this cancer, God will reveal
a story meant to be shared
a story of power and praise
a story of an answered prayer
Because, you see, my husband
he is here with me…
and the sun is rising, softly
telling a story of this God who is worthy
so very worthy and healing is coming
he is healing and there is assurance
God is worthy of all our praise
I’m so thankful of this love that’ll amaze
His love will amaze…
Oh, Lord, how I’m praising
this God so amazing
God is amazing!
There is glory of the Son,
after the raindrops stop falling!
