God Got Gold

Gods are designed by Holy Men
With no regard for kith nor kin
Wherever its sold
Your god must have gold
And people can starve until then

Sure, as long as the rich are fed. Some things never change. A sad limerick, Rico. Well written, but hit me hard thinking of how much food prices are going up and how little people can afford to buy anymore. Hugs, Carolyn

Talk about sticker shock! A box of cereal I saw on sale @$4.89 was priced at $9.99 this morning! Bezos salary may have increased that much, but no one I know had that bump in revenue! Aloha! Rico

Hello Rico ... what's the good of being the richest man in the cemetery unless you're only visiting of course. Money is God and millions worship it - thanks Rico - Lindsay

American men and corporations have BILLIONS just sitting in the bank because they don't know what to do with it whilst their neighbours sleep under tents in the street......Aloha! Rico

Your not wrong Rico, people at one time here in Ireland had to pay to get a good seat in church, roped off areas for the rich, down the back for poor, of course the priest would still preach from the pulpit, we’re all equal in Gods eyes, and everybody sat there week in week out, all changed now, thank God, great writing, cheers David

When I lived in Dublin, what I found most unforgiveable was the Church's censorship, e.g., National Library shelves empty as even the Financial Times could be (and was) banned for the mere mention of anything deemed detrimental to Catholicism, resulting in a land filled with mushrooms. Aloha! Rico

I never understood why religion exist; who pays their brother or sister to negotiate with their parents? Aloha! Rico

thought provoking piece Rico, on reflection your thoughts are so correct... how about this one - a 'pastor' here had the congregation 'assist' him to purchase a house costing over half a million pounds yet many live in rented public housing - go figure !hugs jan xx

My first impression of Europe was disgust; everywhere I went, the church was the finest building in a village where everyone lived in hovels. Who wants or needs a god who opens the door once per week to starving worshipers? Aloha! Rico

I do not understand why gods require places of worship be adorned with gold. The god of the Taliban only requires shooting a schoolgirl in the head, which is rewarded with a virgin in heaven - presumably a virgin with an hole in her head and brain splattered all over her face. Go figure!
