God Answers Job With Questions
Who is this that speaks words without knowledge?
My friends argue they’ve learned it from life’s college.
Where were you when the earth I created?
That’s one question we have NEVER debated.
Would you as you wife suggest, curse me and die?
Shall we accept good from God and not evil? Not I.
Can you command the oceans where to stop?
No, I just drive the oxen who plow my crop.
Have the gates of death been revealed to you?
Not really, but I’ve suffered misfortune out of the blue.
Will you cast blame, my power to deny?
I spoke once, no twice, but now I cannot reply.
Would you defend yourself and condemn Me?
I have heard with my ears, but now I see.
Admitting fault, can you now trust My will?
In dust, I repent, your truth to distill.
Are you willing to offer sacrifice for your friends?
Yes, my Lord, and I will pray for their forgiveness.
Do you believe I could restore your worth?
Yes, my Redeemer, you rule on this earth.
