God Always Requires Obedience - 1 Samuel 15: 22-23
God speaks in His word of many things
but there's one word that always repeats
showing the importance God has for it
obedience is that word He loves to greet
God is delighted when we obey Him
for obedience glorifies His mighty name
no amount of sacrifices will suffice
a humble obedient saint is His aim
God hates sin like nothing else
for disobedience to God is truly sin
revealing a heart full of rebellion
needing divine forgiveness to enter in
God's voice speaks to the human heart
convicting to convert that sinning soul
revealing how deep sin penetrates
but grace goes further healing that hole
God loves us to trust and obey
showing our love is faithfully true
being happy in Jesus is so fulfilling
God's will is the best you can do
(And Samuel said,
“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to listen than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of divination,
and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
he has also rejected you from being king.”)
