Glory of a New Day
However chill the nighttime frights that lie
in wait to slay sleep - be that as it may;
no matter how I try, I can't deny
the glory of a beautiful new day.
Ill thoughts that plague my soul always seem worse
once light has been extinguished from the sky.
But with the dawning morn fortunes reverse
and I can bid those ghastly dreams goodbye.
My mind gets filled with cancerous ideas -
regrets and accusations from the past.
Then, bathed in light and hope-filled panaceas,
back to their cells the foul inmates are cast.
The night grows darkest just before the ray
of sun, and hope, shines glory on the day.
