Glory Days of Golden Youth

Remembering the glory days of golden youth When love and laughter ruled the day, Barmy frolicking was ever the gospel truth. And every boy was a neighborhood sleuth With nary a moment to be whiled away, Remembering the glory days of golden youth. When hell was to be paid for a rash untruth A principle to be upheld, come what may, Barmy frolicking was ever the gospel truth. A typical boy was seldom known for his couth Always jaunty, but for an insult would repay, Remembering the glory days of golden youth. Maintaining his pride so important, forsooth, While holding his peer antagonists at bay Barmy frolicking was ever the gospel truth. Well-groomed and natty, ah, so very smooth Careful never to be thought of as fem or gay Remembering the glory days of golden youth Barmy frolicking was ever the gospel truth.

Makes me reflect back on youthful times. Mine was extremely diverse. With moving and changing school on average, once a year; I was so active I didn't get a chance to really attach to anything except my spiritual side. I'd say my youth was just that, my youth. I grew up and continued on that path. Each phase of my life has been tremendous learning and growing experience. I've made many mistakes and loved a lot. Hopefully I'm helping the world to be better than it would be without me. lol

This is for sure how it used to be "Well-groomed and natty, ah, so very smooth Careful never to be thought of as fem or gay"

Nowadays, I don't think the youngsters pay much attention to those things. I saw some boys dressed for prom, and they were wearing pastels, even pinks! I thought how terrific they have come that far.

One disadvantage of youth is the lack of wisdom we have now. I remember talking to my old boss saying I can't wait to retire and he said "I have less in front than I have behind, never wish your life away" , I often think of it. Tom

Ah, yes. Life is always too short, so we need to make the most of every day we have.

Sounds glorious, to be sure... and sounds as if your youth was a 'real rollicking youth;' mine (other than organized sports) was confined to a desk with a book and a notepad. Oh, well. It paid off later, I guess. ~ Clean hands

I had a mixed bag growing up, gw. There were times when it was delightful, and there were times when it was a nightmare. From seventeen years onward, I pretty much made my own way without any help from an abusive father. I was pretty successful in making something of myself, I think.
