Glass Dreams

My dreams are like glass
They both end in shatters
And both cause me to bleed

Glass creates visible wounds
Easy to heal.
But the shattered dreams
Hurt me where you cannot see

Instead of pain lying in my hands
It stabs at my heart
Leaving more than just a scar

But both wounds,
Eventually, disappear
All that is left is the painful memory
The shadow of its injury

My false fantasies
A delusion of reality
Something that could never be
My longing for the impossibilities

My youth that began to bloom
Died when I learned to see.
The wave of logic and truth
Poisoned all my dreams

As each day flies by
And life continues on
Each dream is forgotten

And at times I’ll hear
As they whisper inside my head
Talking about how things could’ve been
Sometimes it brings me to tears

Those beautiful glass dreams,
How they aren’t what they seem
But glass dreams aren’t meant to be
They will only make me bleed.
