Given In Love

Flowers sometimes talk to me
“We are given in love, but we are dying”
I see but rarely listen.
Living flowers given to the dying in love;
Living flowers adorn the dead
As they, themselves are dying.
Dying flowers are discarded by the living.
Fresh flowers are given with fresh love;
I see but rarely listen.

Someone should say sorry to the flowers.

I CAN GO ON ON HOW SAD I THINK YOUR POEM IS. I AM A LOVER OF NATURE. AND MY HEART FEELS LIKE ALL FLOWERS SHOULD BE BLESSED ONLY TO BE OUTSIDE. THEIR CYCLE ALWAYS BRINGS NEWER ONES AND PRETTIER ONES. ENJOYED.-SKAT

David, you are an interesting person...you are so right about the myelogram except they leave out the pain part. The dye causes cramping and a severe headache if it goes up into your brain, which of course It did go in my head....lucky me(:-{

Great write ....Some people go and place artificial on the graves at special occasions...I go and see if anything needs to be done in the way of repair and maintainence....Different people have different ideas about what to do for the dead...Great idea and presentation of the topic....Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my work..Sara

We do not realize how often nature live for our sake and when we are not aware of the song of nature, we indeed are "dead". Thought provoking write, David, and quite a realization with your talk with the flowers. :) Thanks for sharing this and thanks for your comment on mine. Caroline.

Perhaps putting flowers on graves just makes the living relatives and friends feel better. Flowers are used to express so many feelings -- sympathy, congratulations, love and friendship. Maybe we should apologize for not recognizing the messages they carry. Very thought-provoking poem, David. Blessings and love, Carolyn
