Give us this day our daily…
I do not even have to move my bottom much
remote control in hand I choose what they call
news just the old stuff in new wrappers blown
apart by endless bombing greed retaliation grief
Every day the same old truths on the channels
depicting the flow charts of so called humanity
Monday to Saturday a madman madwoman
suicide bomber axe wielding crazy Neonazi
ISIS fighter not so Godly fundamentalist young
High School Student freedom fighter martyr is
inflicting blood torn limbs tears fear and anger
every day another figure death toll statistic life
I watch the news on Sunday yet again and some
thing is missing no new explosion not even a rerun
on the screen of lives shattered meaning little
some no doubt more equal than others in demise
It hits me like a flash that just for today there is
no report of new fatalities and my world of routine
crumbles and exposes the missing disaster the void
Hey but then 'reassurance' creeps in from the depth
of the mind that even this minute bodies are shred
torn to bits in Aleppo and Bagdadh Kabul Bujumbura
for one dogma or other some deflection or gain
Order is restored nothing from Munich or Paris from
Brussels or Chicago the pinnacles of Western Northern
creation not much from the grey zone of othering either
like Ankara Istanbul Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam where
frequencies of dying seem to ring another lonely pitch
Some news is not worth mentioning I suppose as
there is overload of evil and of reports that numb and
dissect the borders of power the right from the wrong
And yet something was wrong this Sunday on the news
but who is to say what is correct and what is at fault…
