Give Up

Give up, I say, give up
Quit while you are ahead
Do not linger near my door
And get out of your head

Don’t hurt the post now
Lean away from there
If you have forgotten
That you do not care

Do not hold a vigil
Against my meager door
Because in the morning
I will not ask for more

Please don’t make it hard
For me to cross the mat
And take my leave at once
And never ever come back
