Give Thanks

Give Thanks

Give thanks, be grateful Pilgrim
As through this life you pass.
Treat others well so you will like
What's in the looking glass.

Mirrored there so you can see
Reflections of your soul,
The way you've lived, what you've become
How you have paid the toll.

See the face that's looking back
A wrinkle here and there
A scar from some small accident
A receding line of hair

See teeth that may not be yours
But still chew what you eat
In a mouth that is still working
To say hello to friends you greet

See ears that still can listen
To what others say and do
Be grateful you still hear them
And they're speaking still to you

See a face that's ever changing
Give thanks it's looking back
For the eyes that are reflecting
Could be only seeing black

I only see beauty in the poem you have written.

You make me happy that you see it that way; for that was the way it was meant.
