Give Peace a Chance

Have You Ever Seen a Last Request?
It Would Make Your Blood Run Cold.
There Are a Few That Have Seen It,
but They Are the Brave and the Bold.

I Am Talking about Our Young Soldiers,
Sent out to Fight the War
but Viewing of the Last Request,
Burrows down to Your Very Core.

It Says, "Please Tell My Family
I Was Honorable and Brave to the End,
I Did the Best I Thought I Could....
Please Write it All in the Letter You Send.

He Can No Longer Say a Word,
the Request Is in His Eyes.
So It's up to You to Tell What He Gave,
 as the Request Slowly Flickers.....
 And Dies.

Have all our soldiers died in Vain?
To Make sure freedom Rings
Will we ever have that peace
From the song the Government sings?

So Far the most that we can say
To our soldiers that took the fall,
Is “Rest in peace and honored glory
In the name of peace… you gave it all.”

They say there is always hope
Perhaps world leaders would change their stance
And realize no winners come from war,
Then maybe, just maybe Peace would have a chance

Beautiful poem, Connie. God bless our guardians of freedom. Nevertheless, wars change things. With destruction comes innovation and new life. Peace is the in between times. But when one thinks of it, was there every a time of true peace?
