Artistry created with a hand comes in so many forms I'm not always able to conform to considered norms I've used #2 pencils when it was suggested I use a #4 Then again, I don't always do things to keep score I've used crayons on pages while coloring with a child, often traveling outside the lines on purpose, a bit wild, but that's the rebellious side of me that I tend to condone for I'm not one to be commanded like an airborne drone I don't respond to lectures that try to confine my style Establishing my own borders... blueprints not kept on file The designs I'd used in poems and paintings, heretofore are never repeated in new creations. That would be a bore I write outside the margins and scratch words out with a pen but on the keyboard, it's much easier to delete and then send them to keep with pictures I'd consider painting in the future I continually edit poetry and repaint scenes that need a suture I'm open to the boundless beauty that nature holds in store All anyone needs is the willingness to wander about and explore I find incentive in spider webs before sunlight dries the dew, and in prisms of wondrous things open-minded vision can accrue Give me blank pages, stretched canvases, pen, paint and brush Music brings out the artist within me, and I am never in a rush to finish a poem being born, or a lighthouse I'm drawing on a cliff but I am easily distracted by baking cookies with just one whiff

Sets out your creative philosophy beautifully dear Lin....stick to it for it yields such exquisite results and gives much enjoyment to those taking in one of your pictures and of course, your poems. Stepping outside the lines is what gives your work a unique perspective....tell em Lin....send me a few thought cookies to accompany my morning coffee as I have another read of one of your poems.

Your willingness to explore different mediums and techniques reflects a vibrant spirit unbound by convention. Lin Lane, unbound. Oh my, that could be rather dangerous. After reading your thoughts, I might even begin designing jewelry again. You're a fantastic cheerleader, Daniel and I appreciate the many words of praise for my art. Your kindness is of great value to me.

Spoken like a true artist, Lin, seeking your own style. This poem is so rich in unique imagery that matches the truth of your artists' eye and heart. If you look at artists, musicians, writers, etc., whose work lasts through time, they didn't follow the norms, they led the parade! This is a fav for me. Blessings to you my friend!

Not a follower be when it comes to any artistic endeavor we pursue. I like your thoughts about being unique. We all are, and what better way to show it than in our particular artistry. Thanks ever so much for the accolades, Sam.

Lin, this is a wonderful recipe for life. You are solidifying your role as one of my role models. You put this in such human and understandable terms, which makes reading it an absolute pleasure. We're completely different as musicians. I am more structured, but I hope you will forgive that flaw!

A role model for you, Duke, is asking a lot from me to keep writing what you like to read. I hope I'm up to the task. I love everything you write, especially your Limmies. Being structured in writing poetry is not a flaw; no sin to be forgiven. I'm a rhymer at heart, but there are some moments when it breaks my channel of thoughts to bother searching for a rhyme. It would be like floating along and having a stone thrown into my calm waters. Thanks, dear friend.

a delightful poem addressing your soulful passion for your creative expression. I, too, don't like to be hindered with what I think are rules, etc., of conformity. I don't rush; I allow my poems and my memoirs to unfold. So please don't distract me with non-essentials but baking cookies is a welcome distractions. Your poem resonated with me. Have a great day, Sara

We always see eye to eye, don't we, Sara? My day is great so far, and hope this one is the same for your Texas weather. I get it the next day. We all have our own way of doing things, whether it's poetry, baking cookies, or just down right being lazy day things to NOT do. Thanks, my sweet friend.

What a creative poem Lin, the movement back and forth from painting to poetry is so effective, they compliment each other quite seamlessly here, I can only imagine this was no easy task! You’re a very talented lady for sure, love the cookie deflection at the end, cheers David

There are times when I get lost or on a detour when writing, but there are also times when poetry seems to write itself. It was such a circumstance with this one. Thank you so very much for your sugared comments. I'll send you some chocolate chips in a sealed container. ;-)

It's the privilege and priority of an artist of any genre to create in their own style. Thank you, Anne-Lise.

Baking cookies must be a distraction for a skilled painter and poet.
