Give Me a Smile

Amidst a crowded hall, I’m alienated.
Into my own corner, I sit alone.
Removed from all the chatter,
The love, and affection, once shown

I can be almost to tears
But they’ll pretend not to see.
I’m tired of making assertions
That deep down, they care for me.

I know it’s my own doing
That I’ve been left in the dark,
But the road back to life
Is a journey on which I can’t embark

I’ve lost much of everything.
It’ll be this way for awhile.
I only ask to do me one favor
Please, can you give me a smile?
