Girl And Monster
I learned to swim, but never to fly,
I learned to survive, but never to thrive,
Their gardens flourish,
While mine are infested with lead,
They grow and I become one with the dead.
Brick by brick, a bastion around my soul is forming,
Every “I want this” is just one more step away from my heart rotting,
I’m losing in the face of humanity,
Like The Phantom lost all his sanity.
I am nothing but a filthy liar,
An unoriginal story of a villain arc,
I watch them dancing while I lay in the dark,
Saying “I don’t yearn for that!”
I am girl and monster,
She wants love while it craves to be a writer,
And the monster is gaining power,
While the girl is growing tired.
The girl wants a break,
Wants to be safe, in someone’s arms to wake,
But the monster whispers of lurking dangers,
And limbs of lead.
So, the last brick was placed,
And the girl was erased,
Only a wicked smile and a monster,
In the end remained,
To tell the story of I,
Who traded soul for art.
