Gift of April
Spring cleansing of nature's landscape
is a pleasurable chore for April rains.
Gentle precipitation prepares the ground
for flora sprouting in the wild or garden beds
Budding trees clothe their nakedness
and honeybees begin leaving their hives
Cocoons are revealing brilliant butterflies and
song birds return, singing to greet each dawn
Sunlight shines upon the rejuvenating Earth
April's warm breezes spread ripe seeds over
meadows, hills, and on verdant valley floors
so colorful blossoms will rise on sturdy stems
Winter's ice is melting to feed rivers and creeks
Waterfalls are eager to help with steady flow
The world awakens to Mother Nature's beauty
as she urges dormancy to emerge and grow
There's a feeling of hope, the revival of faith
when everything around us is gloriously renewed
Chicks are hatching, births give us reasons to smile
How invigorating is the fourth month of each year
Thank you, April, for replenishing the splendor
lost when months of chilling cold rushed in
and to the mercy of God, who lovingly offers
the gift of April, bringing happiness to everyone
