Ghost Guitar

Ghost Guitar

I think of you and play you, any time of day
You understand my needs, understand what I must say
You’ve always been so close to me, been a cherished friend
You’ve always been there for me, and will be till the end

You know my moods so very well, you know when I am blue
You pluck a tune from out the air and make me play with you
Then we will strum a rock song or a golden oldie tune
Then I know it won’t be long, till I’m lifted out of gloom

Ghost guitar in my hands

I know that people laugh, when they see me tug your strings
But they don’t know the happiness that our duetting brings
You take me off to places where the memory lays sublime
We travel through the years, back and forth in time

And when my baby’s far away and I’m left all alone
It’s you I cradle in my arms and know my songs are blown
By the winds of love, across the earth, the mighty sea
Knowing she will hear them, and hurry home to me

Ghost guitar in my hands
Ghost
                    guitar
                                              in
                                                                 my hands
                                                                                  da da da

Hiya Petal, you do make me laff, I've told you in the past if you don't see a new one not to bother with me lol I always knew your time was limited. My life is a little chaotic at mo, I'll mail you and tell you when it looks like you're having a quiet spell haha, if that ever happens. Thanks for the visit

Thanks for your comment below Richard. The only reason you weren't in my favorites sooner is that I hadn't read enough of your work. Naughty is okay with me, that's one of the reasons I was a fan of Freddie's he didn't hold back. I appreciate that you speak well of him, it adds to the respect I have for you as a person. Thanks so much for your visits.

Moving piece. So many emotions envoked in this. I am an acoustic fan. Love guitar music and calms the restless soul. You have blended this guitar relationship to perfection.

This one goes to my favorites and also elevates you to one of my favorite poets. This is a very special piece. I like the idea of going forward and backwards through time. Music truly does have the capacity to transport us.

We all love music, no doubt about that, for me it's constantly in my head, one tune or another. I'm very honoured to be entered into fave list Richard, I consider it an elevation indeed. Sometimes my writes are a little on the naughty side, I hope the poets in here are open minded enough to accept my odd one offs lol. BTW, You've been in my fave list a long time.

Echinopsis Multiplex is my favourite flower, but they only bloom in the exact right conditions (bit like you) they are a trumpet shape, they look like upside down wedding dresses, soft white, I've grown them over a foot long and they only last a few days. They are a desert plant, I love many plants, orchids among them though I don't specialize in those I do have one or two in my collection

So I'm correcting this stack of essays, but I pause to look up the significance of orchid! Why orchid, Richard? Is it your favorite flower?

I feel the same way - but with piano. Such a warm feeling to play on familiar chords, familiar songs... even the way you formatted it, I couldn't help but imagine the song playing out in my head (as if these were lyrics and not just a poem). Good work!

Oh Sara no, in no way was I saying I didn't like it. I just thought it warranted a little more adding. The lines are wonderful. I'll have to make myself better understood in future. I'm taking another look to see if I cobbled my comment that badly lol.

boo! lol... could not resist :-) on a serious note. I love the melody that floats around. reaching that certain someone. You stain the wind pretty good my poet friend. Sounds very nice. This poem reminds me of a guy who enjoyed playing invisible drums. ~In his heart, he always played good, ~silently~ always smiling and looking up. Now I wonder to whom he was beating them tunes to. I like the imagery for sure. It pleases me to know you play the ghost guitar, for a certain someone. :-) xox~ Linda
