Ghost
She’s in the corner,
Afraid to let her voice be heard.
Afraid to speak her mind.
She’s there but not seen.
She’s transparent, like a ghost;
Wandering the earth for eternity,
Living but not really living.
She watches as their mouths move,
Yelling,
Laughing,
Sharing secrets.
She opens her mouth but nothing comes out.
What if they laugh at her?
What if she’s not good enough?
She feels like a mouse surrounded by mouth-watering cats.
She feels like the skunk people run from.
All she can do is listen.
She’s there but they walk right through her.
This is her life,
To live in the shadows,
Too afraid to speak,
Too afraid to let her voice be heard.
She’s a ghost,
Alone,
Afraid,
Transparent.
