Ghost
You stole my voice;
Then, handed it back on a platter
- of silence -
Threats dominated my ability
- to express myself -
You wanted to turn me numb
so that I was no longer a living being
Smiles would erase everything
Secrets would always be kept
Funny how "your' voice;
- kept going -
Haunting my mind for years
Yes, you are still there;
- but you are a ghost to me -
A ghost who chose evil
Used your free will to control
- with the pretension -
that you could actually 'love'
You cant; you never could
For someone stole not your voice,
- but your soul -
I was just a being in your emptiness
I lived, preserved my beliefs and conscience
Here I am, but I cannot see you
You will always be a ghost
I will always keep healing
I broke the silence, long ago
I don't hide in the shadows
I am who I am; i survived the unthinkable!
I wept for what I never had
and for what I had and lost
I screamed truth from mountain tops
I chose to be authentic
Now, I stand in 'my own' quiet silence and peace
I am looking down upon the wreckage
- It is yours -
- You no longer haunt me -
