Get Up

Smell the coffee beans roast burning
In what is supposed to be Living
The storms have long since past
But its wind still blow in your ears
A souvenir chained firm on your wrist
Leeching off the joys that once were

The sun drowns in the ocean
And with it your soul,
A small pleasure we once appreciated
Means nothing, just another load
Weighing heavy on our shoulders
And you remain the silent ghoul

My petitions are still hollow
Oh, if you’d only hear me
Then my yearning love you’d see
Awaken from this frivolous sleep
Get up! , For I will wait no more
For Ignorance’s bliss fades

Hi Ronny, sounds like a difficult woman you've got here, you need something stronger than petitions to get your way; good luck! :) Great poetry!

"The Trip" was not for a contest..Written on the morning of our going out of town for my husband's surgeon's visit..Thanks for stopping by..Interesting work..I like the opening line for it made me conjure up the aroma of coffee on the range or in the drip coffeemaker..I also like the line "A small pleasure we once appreciated means nothing"..That is so true many times in all areas of our life from marriage to jobs etc...Thanks again for stopping by...Sara
