Get Ready

Cheerful, the splendor of the Christmas gift
When stars glimmer like bright crystalline light
Season of joy when our hearts need a lift

Dreams, like snowflakes, can tumble and drift
Our eyes are filled with love, glistening bright
Cheerful, the splendor of the Christmas gift

It's a time to mend each troublesome rift
Releasing quarrels of old to take flight
Season of joy when our hearts need a lift

There are cookies to bake, and flour to sift
While children stir so they can steal a bite
Cheerful, the splendor of the Christmas gift

No mistletoe, so we have to makeshift
With holly and a fire for warmth at night
Season of joy when our hearts need a lift

The passage of holidays are too swift
Much too quickly, it's all gone from our sight
Cheerful, the splendor of the Christmas gift
Season of joy when our hearts need a lift.
