Genuine Love and Passion

I need no diamond
I want no pearls
for you I'd abandon
the most valuable jewels
            give me companionship
            tenderness and compassion
            enhance our relationship
            with romance and passion
do not speak
any words that are empty
do not seek
to merely placate me
            I need what is true
            not what sounds good
            I want only you
            how I wish you understood
take no action
that isn't from your heart
if there is no passion
don't even bother to start
           just give me your love
           let me give you mine
           that's all I dream of
           simple and divine

I love this. I too have always wanted all relationships to be 'authentic' and your poem speaks to my need. This write is lovely and all those who may not understand what it expresses, may not be those we could love, huh? Again, I relate to this and applaud the poem ... CayCay

I'm not going to lie, this was a hard one to read, not because of how it is written, your feeling are expressed perfectly, but because of the message or theme. To make someone happy and feel loved is not that hard and it shouldn't be. Every relationships needs a little give and take and when the take outweighs the give, then that is sad.
