Generational Holocausts

The term understates,
underrates the invisible numbers,
after the headlines, the quieted dead
dwindle to less than extraordinary.

Violence and cultural blight
are seen as side effects of affluence,
a benign wind of change
and not the culling, winnowing
and genocide of a Nation
sleepwalking into madness.

Clubbing seal cubs
portends a rage for mass murder.

The tail wags the dog
and the offended march away
to slaughter strangers.

Generation after generation,
no - year after year,
day to day.

Meanwhile bloody footprints
reshape a landscape of fear.
