Gemini Garden, Silent One

"birds care not for whom they sing"-- Silent One A bluejay comes ...roosting on the hilltop Its melody lilts for a bounty's heap And sprawl of September morn reels, nonstop While daylight bursts from an autumnal leap-- A season brimming , winds fragrant and deep That I'm thrilled by birdsong, notes upon mist How this warbler coos...dare I not resist? Around the curve, jay quickly darts away Telling me it sings not for me, but all An avian's choice-- to stay on or stray: That birds leave, return when time to enthrall Is gone , done...my own joy ending time's call. Then lo! More bluejays flutter near our gate A gala of choirs starts... tunes, I await!

Reads like a good contender for the contest to me. Way to go. Thank you for sharing it with us. I need to look up the rhyme royal and see what it entails. It looks hard to write. Thanks for stopping by my page. Sara K

What a beautiful poem Nette birds do enthrall. My husband instilled a love for birds in me, and especially big birds, he loves his Eagles, and whilst he drives I search the skies and tree tops with my binoculars. 'they do no care for whom they sing.... merrily they fly and ,do their thing..... 'An avian's choice -- to stay or stray' so well penned, blessings, hugs Jennifer.
