8/15/2025 for FAVORITE THINGS Poetry Contest sponsored by Nette Onclaud

A tired man surveys his field
in the morning, still.
Honking alerts his senses,
giving him a thrill.
Can you believe these...
wild geese...with moon on their wings
dropped him to his knees?

I enjoy the picture of migrating geese. They've always been my friends.

They're great - I don't see 'em too often.

powerful poetry, David. Geese can be quite impressive in the air. Good luck in the contest, my friend. Bill

Hello David, There’s something beautiful in the stillness you capture, and then the sudden awe that knocks him to his knees that even in routine, the world can surprise us. Short, sharp, and luminous, your words really sing. Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Thanks Daniel! While there's only just a bit of hyperbole in it, I had a few unexpected encounters with wild geese over the past few years, catching me by surprise, and what can I say - they take my breath away!

There's a favorite things contest? Didn't Julie Andrews cover that? I really like this. I've missed you - seems we haven't crossed paths in a bit. How is every little thing? I've sent you a message. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

I looked at the contest and if I understand your comments below, we are a dumb twosome, if not, I am a solo dumb dumb. It's obviously a Julie Andrews themed contest though Goose line isn't even vaguely familiar. CayCay

When the dog bites, when the bee stings, I simply think of my favorite things ... snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes... brown paper packages tied up with string ... I'm ashamed, that's all I got which is approx 90% less than I've known most of my life as did my siblings and parents. Kyle loved your comments & he was diverted (yes), my whole heart thanks you ... Hi CayCay, yup, as I think of it, it WAS Julie Andrews who made the initial foray into the depths of that topic - lol. Life has been pretty good, I'd have to say, though fairly uneventful, which for me is a blessing - give me life in the slow lane, I say. It's good to hear from you. I read your message, and it seems like you could use a bit of those favorite things, let's see, what were they? I'd be happy with a crisp apple strudel! I hope some of your favorite things come your way.
