Gathering Courage

The storm brews in the recess of horizon,
wind draws cloud from abyss of darkness.
My old boat on the turbulent river tosses,
hoping the destroyer doesn’t strike soon,
I gather courage.

Rains pour in a torrent from the falling sky,
water of woe rushes through the bleak valley.
My old house struggles to stand in its place,
hoping the deluge doesn’t come soon,
I gather courage.

Disease of distress strikes the mortal blow,
life has learnt to submit to resigned despair.
My body knows its vulnerability is quite low,
hoping the knock on door doesn’t sound soon,
I gather courage.

Life is trapped at the edge of uncertain times,
where the twilight gleam is fast fading away
within the abysmal fold of the falling night,
hoping the final call doesn’t come soon,
I gather courage.

Hello, Subimal. I like the way you structured your poem, repitition within similarities. You depict your stance in the scare and unknown impact of the approaching storm. Also the word 'gather' is really great. Shows we make that concious decision.
