GARDEN LOVE Landscaped and designed lovingly by yours truly, Had no option, as lightening hit my favourite tree, One that my Dad planted, destined to fall Cracked down the middle, five storeys tall, Had been attacked overnight, died a death unduly. Asked the tree fellers to leave stump one storey high, Would not let my Fathers presence in the garden die, So re-designed and re-landscaped our garden, Ignored protests, proceeded, beg your pardon, Gardener and I worked hard, all marvel as they pass by!

Darlene I missed this lovely comment - thank you Darlene, yes the stump was very important, it formed the centrepiece of the landscaped garden. Hugs and blessings and have a wonderful day tomorrow. Jennifer.

Enjoyed this poem, Jenny, and the lovely garden, too! Once I had a big stump like that in my garden, but it rotted and had to burn it. ~ warm regards & hugs // paul

This was a very special Christmas tree that my father planted in the garden when I was in my early teens, in their will they left this huge house to me, we renovated and now it is far too big for us, thinking of downsizing very shortly. Glad you liked our garden, that is only part of my landscaping in it - there will be a part two of this poem with more pics. Always sad to have a tree die in your garden, sorry about yours Paul! Hugs and warm regards, Jennifer.

Thank-you Richard, the tree had to go - was a threat to the main road or to our home as the lightening had split it down the middle. Thanks for a cool comment Rick, hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Loved the poem, and adored the story behind it. Everyone should double click the photograph! You are truly missing a beautiful scene if you do not. Bravo Jennifer! I had a gorgeous willow tree that died. I made them leave me a stump so I could decorate it.

Thanks Caren - an awesome comment from you - gardens are big in South Africa, and even our home is becoming too big for us, thinking of selling, buying a tiny home and travelling! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

That is only a small part of our garden, gardens in South Africa are big, but love beautiful gardens, will post more photos of ours. However, we are seriously thinking of selling our home within the next couple of months, far too big for us, my husband and I are rattling around in it, so looking at tiny homes like on TV and maybe then travelling a bit. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I enjoyed this story in your poem. I'm on the road and using cell phone so cant say a lot. It was my dad's funeral and very lovely being with my sisters.

Hello Jennifer … found a couple of trees in forests lightning has struck. I did read somewhere that the wood can become petrified. Lightning certainly changes things - thanks Jennifer - Lindsay

our tree actually split down the middle and we are on a main road, so there was a danger of it falling on our home or across the road and destroying cars and killing people - we had to cut it down. Storms severe in South Africa, sure much the same in Australia, thank you for your always relevant comment hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Thank-you Line, plan to sell our home within the next few months - too big for us and the boys are now married and no grandchildren we have been told, planet earth is going to be in a crisis in 15 years from now they say - looking at tiny homes like programme on TV. Warm wishes and hugs, Jennifer.

Thank-you Vijay, the storm that took down my fathers tree was devastating - the storms have become horribly severe in South Africa. A wonderful comment as always - hugs and blessings Jennifer.

We were in bed, and the thunder was frightening whilst the treacherous lightning struck our automated gate motor which destroyed almost anything electrical in our home and the tree - the bang was like a bomb had been thrown outside our window as the storm was right above us. We have severe storms in South africa. I was devastated with the tree, it died! Thank-you for a lovely comment Gordon, Hugs, Jennifer.
