GARDEN

Garden
by Frank Daub

I will talk with you tonight
and – you will answer with yellow flowers,
pale yellow roses,
BRIGHT
wax leaves tied in splashed white bowers.

In dark and on a sea
of white,
You will breathe
	into my hand
Perfuming eternity with your gift --
To never leave.

Frank, this is a luminous little free-verse poem, tenderly alive with colour, scent, and intimate address. The pauses and visual emphasis create a hushed, almost dreamlike movement, while the yellow roses and “perfuming eternity” make love feel both immediate and enduring.

Dear Alison Thank you for your comment regarding GARDEN. I want you to know that your comments are very important to me. You are beautifully humble about your accomplishments but please accept my words of acknowledgement and gratitude. I have learned about Alison Smith. While an undergraduate, I enjoyed two semesters with poet John Knopfle; a privilege and a gift that honed my love of poetry. Now I have earned the attention of another renowned poet. Your encouragement has awakened a new effort in writing. Thank You
