Games and Life

                                    Games at the baby shower

                                  Then games of peak-a-boo

                                   and patty-cake-a-patty cake

With the tiny dream come true

Games of Ring Around a Rosey

                                   Holding little child's hand

                                      To sitting at the table

With a game of Candy Land!

                                   The game of life unfolding,

                                      Right before my eyes

                                The Wedding March beginning

                                    Dash away now lullabies

                                   A marriage vow is spoken

                              And sweet kisses without shame

                                    A Holy vow was spoken

All knew well this was no game.

                                              And soon

                                   Games at the baby shower

                                       Games of peak-a-boo

                                     Patty-cake-a-patty cake

                                   Another dream come true...

Slowly and steadily life takes a full circle. The entire life cycle is covered, each stage celebrated in a special way. Dear B.J, enjoyed your poem starting with baby shower and ending in baby shower

With deft strokes, you have captured the intricate tapestry of life's games from their inception, BJ. Existence unfolds in a circular dance, where we emerge into the world, traverse the paths of growth, entwine in union, and bequeath the legacy of our lineage. A flawless play.

Thank you so much for your visit and beautiful and eloquent comment Sotto. Life is quite a precious dance, that is for certain. Watching my grandbabies grow up and knowing this beautiful plan of life continues to unfold is a breath taking view from my older age. I was feeling very sentimental as I wrote this poem. Trying to get things in order, photographs and treasures to pass on, and this poem was inevitable.

Life is a circle, we are born, grow, marry and have children. Perfect game.

Yes Victor, it is a perfect plan for sure, our Father in heaven designed such a sweet rhythm to our life. Sometimes it is sad, to be honest, I just wish to go back in time for a visit to my babies when they were young, hold them again, but the flow of time rushes forward! The games unfold again and again.

What a beautiful full-circle moment—so touching how the playful games of childhood lead into the milestones of life and back again. I love how it flows from innocence to deep meaning, with the wedding vow grounding it all. This really captured the sweetness of generational love and new beginnings. Loved it!

Thank you Rowena, for your visit and sweet comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed my nostalgic poem! I was going through photos as well as old sweet keepsakes of my children, reflecting on it all. Watching my grandkids now as they reach maturity, it inspired my poem. Sort of bittersweet as I miss their young years, but there is no way to go back as we keep flowing forward. It is nice to meet you :)

Yes, and it flies too, we never realize it when we're young, but our parents and grandparents were already witness to the fact, and now we are too. It is bitter sweet, but beautiful to watch it all, but still long to hold those babies in our arms, go back in time for visits!

beautiful, BJ! Reminds me of a Kodak commercial that aired during the 60s...it was a emotionally griping ad, just as your poem is griping! Nicely done. Enjoy your evening, hugs, Sara

I remember a commercial by a baby powder company that made me cry. The mom and dad of a young bride were getting ready to leave for the church for her wedding, the lady sprinkled on some baby powder and reminisced that she had begun using it herself "When" pause for emotional emphasis, "She was just a baby!" finished in tears, and her husband hugged her. That commercial aired when I was a young mama with my firstborn child, it made my husband and I both teary, that is for sure. It is gripping to watch the seasons of life ever reliving, in speed up mode as I grow older. Thank you for your visit and sweet comment Sara <3
